Purpose

Improve efficiency in the mining industry

I. Understand the Context

Gemstone was created by 4 mechatronics student engineers. Gemstone is used to filter, transport, weigh, and sort various mineral. This project was created for the first year MTE 100 class and was designed, built and programmed in house. Through programming magic the gemstones could be sorted based on: type, weight or value.

II. My Role

As the Mechanical Lead it was my responsibility to work closely with the project designer to ensure a clean build. I was in charge of building the sorting arms and leading the build of the entire system.

III. Conclusion

This project went successfully as the demonstration worked according to plan. The software demonstration recieved a 100%. The entire process taught each member a lot about CAD Design, Mechanical Drawings, and Part Assembly.
